About the Amber Grant

The Amber Grants were first started
in 1998, as part of the online women's business community,
WomensNet.Net. WomensNet.Net is owned
and operated by Prewitt Investments III Inc. a Texas-based
company. Both WomensNet and the Amber Grants are entirely funded
by Prewitt Investments III Inc..
The concept of the Amber Grants came
about as a way to keep alive the memory of the site's original owner
and founder Melody Wigdahl's sister and only sibling, Amber Wigdahl.
She was killed in 1981 at the age of 19.
The purpose of the Amber Grants is to give other women
entrepreneurs the chance to fulfill the dreams that Amber
could not.

"Although she was killed more than
two decades ago, the pain is still as sharp as the day it happened.
Amber
was a rare creature - full of life and laughter, intelligent
and gentle, competitive but never to the detriment of
another. She loved nature and animals, and when she
died she left behind a little green parrot and a ferret."
-Melody Wigdahl, Founder of WomensNet.net

"Amber's too sudden departure left
behind a gaping hole in many hearts and souls that can never be filled.
I gave
up trying a long time ago, but by helping
other women in
her name, it makes it a tiny bit easier to cope. "
-Melody Wigdahl, Founder of WomensNet.net
